CPD Cipadam S-15 Ultra

The Leslie & York Mills Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Toronto, Ontario was completed by contractor Verdi Alliance and our CPD products supplied by our distributor Blair Building Materials.

The York Mills Bridge is not only a key route in and out of the midtown core in Toronto but also a high volume passage. The challenge for Verdi Alliance was to complete this project ensuring that the bridge remained safe for drivers to use while the crews were working on the repairs. To accomplish this the contractor staged the project into four phases.

The work entailed adding both a concrete overlay and a new asphalt pavement, along with waterproofing the existing exposed concrete bridge deck to protect it from future erosion.

The products used to complete the project were:

CPD® Cipadam S-15 Ultra which is part of a two coat protection system which prevents the intrusion of chlorides and water. It is typically used on concrete slabs, decks, walls, abutments, concrete barriers and retaining walls. In this application it was used on the sidewalks and parapet walls.

The two coat system consists of:

A) A base coat of CIPADAM S-15. It is a silane base which penetrates into the substrate and reduces chloride ion migration through cement materials.

B) The top coat is CIPADECK Cure & Seal WB, a colorless acrylic resin in a solvent base or concrete sealer.

Quantities Used in the York Mills Bridge project were:

CPD Cipadam S-15 – 44 x 18.9L Pails
CPD Cipadeck Cure & Seal WB – 3 x 208L Drums
