Highway 410 in Brampton Project

Project Scope

Ontario is widening a 12-kilometre stretch of Highway 410 from south of Highway 401 to Queen Street, Brampton. The project is to improve traffic flow and safety in the Greater Toronto Area, while creating or sustaining more than 1,550 construction jobs.

The project includes:

  • Repairing, repaving and expanding the section of Highway 410 from six to 10 lanes
  • Building one general purpose lane and one High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lane in each direction
  • Repairing seven bridges
  • Constructing two new ramps at the highway 401/403/410 interchange
  • Opening two new carpool lots
  • Installing concrete median barriers and high-mast lighting

Construction is targeted for completion by fall 2018.

The Contractor

AECON Group Inc. has been awarded the project for the new improvements to the highway, including adding High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) and general-purpose lanes in addition to commuter parking lots in Brampton and Mississauga. The work will cover north and southbound lanes and stretch some 12 kilometers from Highway 410 and 401 in Mississauga to Queen Street in Brampton.

Throughout the years, Aecon has been involved in the building of some of Canada’s most important landmarks, including the CN Tower, St. Lawrence Seaway, Highway 407 Express Toll Route, Vancouver Sky Train, and the Montreal-Trudeau International Airport, to name just a few.

The Product

AECON Group Inc. selected the CPD® Fastcrete HS product, which was supplied by CRS Brampton (Contractors Rental Supply), for the project. This product was ideal because it is a fast setting, high strength compound that has exceptional bond strength and durability, when cured. When dry it is similar to the color of concrete making the work almost seamless.

CPD® Fastcrete HS was used by AECON for all the new water main and sewer installations for the 12 kilometer stretch of Hwy 410.
